Championship Game Highlights

In spite of an unpredictable forecast and a light rain the morning of Oct 12th, we attempted to get the Championship Game in.  However, after playing 2 innings in a steady rain the game was called by the umpires, primarily due to muddy and potentially hazardous field conditions.  At the time the game was halted the score was 3-2 with Forever Young leading Roy.  The game was resumed Sunday, Oct 19th at 9:30am.

As the Championship Game was resumed this next Sunday it was cool with a slight drizzle.  But the players came dressed for the weather and ready to play.  The game was resumed in the 2nd inning and was a battle into the top of the 8th inning with the score tied 8-8.  But Roy's offense exploded for 7 runs to put build a 15-8 lead.  Forever Young came back with 2 in the bottom of the frame and added 2 more in the bottom of the 9th, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.  The final score was 15-12 with Roy winning the championship.

Playoff Highlights

The 1st round of the playoffs was played Sunday, Sept 21st with Roy and Millman advancing.  The score of the 8:00 game, Roy vs Raymo, was 15-9 but was tied up going into the later innings.  Raymo played very well but Roy was able to put up the runs when it counted.  The 9:30 game of Millman vs Kudcey was a battle to finish.  The score was knotted at 2 until the 5th when Kudcey put up a run to go ahead 3-2.  But Millman came right back to take a 7-3 lead.  Kudcey, though, was not finished and put a scare into Millman.  With 2 outs in their last at bats of the season Kudcey pushed 3 runs across with 2 outs.  But Millman hung on to win it 7-6.

Congratulations to both the Kudcey and Raymo teams.  They all played hard every week and hopefully had a good time in the process.  I hope to see all you guys back next year!!!

Sunday, Oct 5th was the date of Round 2 of the playoffs.  Under what felt like a summer sun the 2 finalists for the League Championship were determined.  The 9:30 game of Davis vs Roy started as a closely fought contest until Roy broke it open in the later innings to win in decisive fashion, 15-3.  At 11:00 Forever Young and Millman did battle, with Millman keeping the high powered FY offense mostly in check throughout the game with some solid pitching and defense.  But FY was also throwing around some leather, preventing Millman from stringing any hits together, giving them the victory, 7-1, and a trip to the finals to meet the Roy team.
